  7. Our Wine...Coming to a Store Near You

Dear Friends,

Things are looking brighter by the day. I just came back from Andrew's Wine Cellar in Oswego where I dropped off nine cases of our Lakeland Winery fruit flavored wines—my first wholesale customer with hopefully many more to come!

On the way home, I visited Dick at City Lights Liquor Store in Syracuse. I brought him a case of our mixed fruit wines to taste. Dick is from the old school. He says to me gruffly, "If I like it I'll buy it. If I don't, I won't." "Fair enough," I said. After tasting the Peach Apricot Chardonnay, he says, "This is pretty good." I left him the case to sell to his customers. I think he'll be back for more. Interested in purchasing Lakeland Winery wine wholesale? We're currently offering introductory prices for at least three cases or more. Yes, just three cases!

Speaking of the future, I was explaining my plans for the winery to someone today and said, "I want to make this a Million-Dollar-A-Year enterprise where we sell wholesale wines all over the country." But what about loyalty to my customers who want to continue making their own wine at better than wholesale store-bought wine prices? I will be writing a mission statement soon. In that statement will be a promise to never give up those roots from where I came and will forever allow people to make their own wine at Lakeland Winery.

As long as we're on the topic, I better mention that you can now make your own Personalized Winemaking appointment online . Find a time that works for you, give me an idea of what kind of wine you're interested in making, and I'll email or call you back to verify. Don't worry if you aren't sure of the kind of wine you want to make—we'll be wine tasting beforehand. :)

Also, the Winemaker Magazine International Wine Tasting Competition will be held on May 16–17, 2008 in Sonoma County, CA. Keep track of the contest results at winemakermag.com . We make our wines exclusively from juice concentrate kits by Winexpert, but that doesn't mean, for example, if a wine from R. J. Spagnols comes in first place we won't buy it for you to make (Both Winexpert and R. J. Spagnols sell juice concentrate kits for winemaking).

As always, we're open for Personalized Winemaking weekday evenings from 5pm to 9pm and on Saturdays from 10am to 5pm—by appointment, of course. Just choose a free hour from our calendar —yes we're quite busy!—and make an appointment online, shoot me an email, or call me anytime at (315) 572-4763.

Thanks and happy winemaking!
—Andy

We Need Your Feedback to Help Us Create a Better Personalized Winemaking Experience

1. Take our survey: lakelandwinery.feedback.sgizmo.com
2. Incentive: Stop by the winery to pick up a bottle of wine of your choice.

Couple at WineryAs you all know, we're a small winery that's growing fast—but we want to remain dedicated to making sure that your Personalized Winemaking experience is the best that it can possibly be. Any feedback that we can get is, well, invaluable. I can't stress that enough.

So, we set up a quick online survey to help us better understand how we can improve the Personalized Winemaking experience for everyone.

Oh, did I mention the little incentive? How does a bottle of wine sound? Just make sure to fill out your name and email address at the end of the survey and then stop by the winery to pick up any bottle of wine of our choice as our special thank you!

Ready for that link again? lakelandwinery.feedback.sgizmo.com

For May: Buy Any Bottle of Wine, Get A Second Bottle on the House!

Because we know one bottle of wine is never enough, you'll get a second bottle of Lakeland Winery wine whenever you buy a single bottle throughout the month of May.

Are we crazy? Well, kind of. But our wine is just so darn good! Share the extra bottle with a friend or give it to Mom for Mother's Day—or just drink it yourself!

Lakeland Winery Fruit Wines (375ml, $5): Provocative Peach, Winsome Wildberry, Exuding Exotic, Beckoning Blackberry, Ravishing Raspberry, Keenly Kiwi, Alluring Apple, Magnetic Mango, Suavely Strawberry, Blueberry Blueberry

Lakeland Winery Deliciously Sweeter Wines (375ml, $10): Dessert Red, Dessert White, Chocolate Decadence

Syracuse Wine Meetup Group Event on May 18th: Finger Lakes Wine Tour (Encore)

Syracuse Wine Meetup Group

We're going on a Finger Lakes wine tour this month!

Come to the next Syracuse Wine Meetup Group event, beginning at Lakeland Winery on Sunday, May 18th at 10:30am: Finger Lakes Wine Tour (Encore) . We had 23 at our last event in April and we keep growing every month!

Head over to the Syracuse Wine Meetup Group's web site to find out more about joining and attending this event: http://wine.meetup.com/405

Next Meetup
Finger Lakes Wine Tour (Encore)
When
Sunday, May 18th at 10:30am
Where
Lakeland Winery, 877 State Fair Blvd., Syracuse, NY 13209
(Get directions)
Who Should Come
This is a fun time when newbies can stretch their wine 'legs' and sample a large selection of different Finger Lake wines with the comfort of having a designated driver. Please bring note paper to keep track of which wines you enjoyed.
Why
Last time we went, I don't even remember the names of the wineries we visited. Educate yourself to which wineries are best, because there are definitely better wineries than others. One of the hardest things to do is remember which wines you liked.
Event Fee
A $10 fee is for designated drivers for gas and auto expenses. Right now, it's myself (Andy) and Karen. Anyone else would be appreciated. I think we need one or two more drivers, depending on how many attend!
Details
I strongly recommend visiting this EXCELLENT website to learn which wines or wineries won what awards: www.uncorknewyork.com

Here is Mike Sears's recommended list of wineries to attend:

10:30am We will meet at Lakeland Winery – 12:00 Ventosa Vineyards, Geneva – 12:45 Lamoreaux Landing Lamoreaux Landing Winery, Lodi – 1:30 Wagner Vineyards & Brewery Wagner Vineyards Winery, Lodi Lunch – 2:30 Shalestone Vineyards Shalestone Winery, Lodi – 3:15 Standing Stone Vineyards Standing Stone Winery, Hector (Optional) – 4:00 Red Newt Cellars, Hector (Optional) – 4:45 Chateau LaFayette Reneau, Hector – 5:30 Atwater Vineyards, Hector – 6:15 Silver Springs Winery, Burdett (I might be able to get special talk from the wine waker) – Dinner?

Except for the first one they are VERY close together (about 10 miles start to finish).

Winemaking Tip: Blending Wines

I spoke about Debrah from California recently in a blog post, who blended a little Stag's Leap Merlot with some Washington Columbia Valley Riesling—and I thought it was absolutely fantastic! She wants me to name it after her middle name, Sabrina. I think I will!

So why don't you try your own hand at blending different wines? In fact, try blending the two wines I mentioned above. If I like it, I'll give you a case of 750ml bottles from that blend!

Just remember to always keep track of your proportions!

Feel free to contact me with questions or ideas for blending wines.

Our Wine...Coming to a Store Near You

In other news, we are making progress finding distribution partners who will sell our wine out of their stores.

I have my eyes on different places in New Hartford, Binghamton, Auburn, Rochester, and of course Syracuse.

If you know of any stores in your area that might be interested in Lakeland Winery wines, be sure to let me know!

Until Next Month...
